Nebraska Volleyball Unveils Cubs-Inspired Jerseys for Historic Wrigley Field Matchup

Update: 4 September 2026, 8:58:41 PM

The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team is embracing the spirit of Wrigley Field ahead of their historic Sunday matchup against Missouri. As part of the Big Ten/SEC Challenge, the two programs will compete in a unique doubleheader at the iconic ballpark, marking the first time the venue has hosted such an event. To celebrate the occasion, Nebraska unveiled custom baseball-inspired jerseys featuring the classic pinstripes synonymous with the Chicago Cubs.

Nebraska star Harper Murray and her teammates showcased the new uniforms in a video posted to X, with Murray also sharing her enthusiasm for the baseball-themed gear on TikTok. The excitement surrounding the event follows a busy week for Murray, who recently made headlines for her interaction with NFL legend Tom Brady after he and his daughter, Vivian, attended Nebraska’s game against the Texas Longhorns.

While the Cornhuskers prepare to take the field at Wrigley, the Chicago Cubs are heading to Miami for a three-game series against the Marlins. The Cubs enter the road trip with momentum after narrowly avoiding a series sweep against the Milwaukee Brewers with a 2-1 victory in Thursday’s finale. The win was secured by outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, who continues to bolster his case for the National League MVP award.

Crow-Armstrong delivered a decisive two-run home run in the win, marking his 39th homer of the season and his sixth in just six games. He currently sits second in the league for home runs, trailing only Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber, who has recorded 40 homers this season. The Big Ten and SEC conference competition, which began on Tuesday, will reach its conclusion with the highly anticipated matches at Wrigley Field this weekend.
