The UAE national karate teams concluded their participation in the 24th edition of the Asian Karate Championships for youth, juniors, and Under-21 athletes held in Amman, Jordan. The delegation returned with a total of nine medals, comprising two gold and seven bronze.
Medal Breakdown
- Karim Rami: Gold in Under-21 individual kata.
- Habiba Yasser: Gold in individual kumite under 48kg and bronze in individual kata.
- Razan Mahyoob: Two bronze medals in junior girls’ individual kata and junior girls’ individual kumite under 47kg.
- Khalifa Al Hajaj: Bronze in junior men’s individual kumite under 68kg.
- Bakhit Ahmed: Bronze in junior men’s individual kumite under 55kg.
- Sultan Mohammed: Bronze in junior boys’ individual kumite under 52kg.
- Mohammed Al Kindi: Bronze in junior boys’ individual kumite under 61kg.
Leadership Recognition
Major General (Ret.) Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al Razooqi, President of the UAE and Asian Karate Federations and Vice President of the International Karate Federation, attributed this success to the wise leadership’s ongoing support for the youth and sports sector. He congratulated the winners and commended the administrative, technical, and medical staffs for their dedicated efforts.
Razooqi emphasized that securing nine medals at a major Asian championship aligns with the federation’s long-term strategic plans to develop young athletes, creating a robust pipeline for the senior national team. He further acknowledged the role of UAE clubs in identifying and nurturing talented young male and female competitors who continue to represent the nation successfully on the international stage.
