Established in 2015, the Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club maintains a comprehensive strategy to identify talent, develop athletes for UAE national teams, and promote community sporting values. Under the leadership of Chairman Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, the club operates primary centres in Al Rahmaniya and Industrial Area 18. Its reach extends into the community through activities at public parks in Al Nouf, Al Nasseriya, Kshisha, and Al Majaz, alongside partnerships with educational institutions for training camps and regional participation.
Competitive Achievements
The 2025-2026 season saw the club earn 1,280 medals, comprising 396 gold, 424 silver, and 460 bronze. The distribution included 663 medals in jiu-jitsu, 327 in taekwondo, 225 in judo, and 65 in wrestling. Performance highlights include a third consecutive first-place finish in the no-gi category of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the overall men’s taekwondo title, and a victory in the UAE Wrestling Federation Cup.

- Obaid Al Asam Al Suwaidi, Vice Chairman, stated that the club’s approach aligns with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, prioritizing human development and sportsmanship.
- The club utilizes modern technologies, data-driven systems, and expanded partnerships to strengthen its standing both locally and internationally.
- The seven-year-old “Our Sports Culture” initiative drives sports awareness via lectures and workshops, offering specialized programming for senior citizens, parents, and the broader community.
- Humaid Sabt Al Shamsi, Director of Sports Affairs, confirmed that the club’s strategy focuses on sustainable athlete development, noting that numerous athletes have been selected to represent the UAE in jiu-jitsu, taekwondo, judo, wrestling, and karate.
