Coco Gauff successfully navigated her return to the court on Saturday, overcoming Camila Osorio in a three-set battle at the China Open. Gauff secured the second-round win with a score of 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2, marking her first appearance since her semifinal loss to Elena Rybakina at the US Open on September 11. It was Gauff’s first match since losing to Elena Rybakina in three sets in the final four at Flushing Meadows on Sept.

As a two-time singles major champion, Gauff has claimed victory at both the 2023 US Open and the 2025 French Open, defeating Aryna Sabalenka in both championship matches. The current WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing, which features a 128-player draw, is scheduled to conclude on October 11.

In parallel action at the men’s ATP 500 event, Alex de Minaur battled past Quentin Halys with a 3-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5 result. Other top contenders were also in action on Saturday, with Alexander Zverev slated to face wild card Shang Juncheng and Daniil Medvedev scheduled to play Jan-Lennard Struff.
