Jake Paul spent Saturday night watching Canelo Alvarez in action, quickly taking to social media to call out the boxing star after his latest victory. Known as ‘The Problem Child’, Paul has spent three years chasing a matchup against Alvarez. While Canelo has avoided any talks about fighting Paul, ‘ The Problem Child ‘ has already faced some big names, and his last fight didn’t go as planned.
Canelo had just defeated 31-year-old Christian Mbilli by unanimous decision in Riyadh to reclaim the WBC super middleweight title, 13 months after Terence Crawford captured his undisputed championship. The judges scored the bout 115-112, 116-111, and 117-110. Follow One Championship News, Schedule & Results at.
Mbilli applied early pressure with busy combinations in the third and fifth rounds, but Alvarez landed cleaner counters and rocked his opponent with a right uppercut in the seventh. Mbilli also had a point deducted in the eighth round for punching behind the head. The line about the punches has something behind it.
Paul’s latest message adds to a long-running campaign. In February 2025, after reports indicated a May 3 bout in Las Vegas had been arranged, Alvarez instead signed a four-fight Riyadh Season agreement and faced William Scull. Paul continued his provocations later in the year, writing online on September 30.
While Alvarez has steered clear of discussing a potential bout with Paul, ‘The Problem Child’ has previously stepped into the ring with prominent opponents. However, his most recent outing did not go to plan.
Paul has not competed since December 19, 2025, when Anthony Joshua stopped him in six rounds at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Paul went down twice in the fifth round and twice more in the sixth before referee Christopher Young waved off the contest at 1:31 of the round after a right hand broke his jaw in two places.
Following the bout, Paul had titanium plates fitted on both sides of his jaw, had teeth removed, and required a second operation in February when the hardware loosened. Later in the year, he acknowledged that his career might be finished. He said, asked what came next.
Meanwhile, Alvarez holds one fight remaining on his Riyadh Season contract and has expressed a desire to return to the ring in February.
