Police have arrested Hasibur Rahman in connection with the death of actress Ridhika Ridhi, whose body was discovered at her residence in the Bashundhara residential area of Dhaka. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the suspect was the actress’s boyfriend and has been taken into custody on charges of abetting her suicide.
Bhatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mazharul Islam stated that the arrest occurred on Saturday, August 15, at the actress’s home. The legal proceedings began after Ridhi’s mother filed a formal complaint naming Hasibur as the sole accused in the case. Following his arrest, the suspect was presented before the court as the investigation continues.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning when family members found Ridhi hanging from a ceiling fan in her bedroom. She was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital, where attending physicians declared her dead. Police noted that Ridhi was reportedly on a video call with her boyfriend at the time of the incident.
While initial findings suggest suicide, authorities are investigating the underlying circumstances of her death. Beyond her modeling career, Ridhi had appeared in several television dramas, including “Ekhane Manush Bikri Hoy,” “Bahurupi,” “Double Honeymoon,” and “Sundori.”
