The Emirates Golf Federation is set to launch its 2026-2027 competitive season this Sunday at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club, hosting the first installment of its monthly tournament series for UAE nationals. A total of 84 male and female golfers, representing a wide spectrum of ages and skill levels, are slated to participate in the event.
As part of the federation’s annual sporting agenda, this tournament serves as the inaugural competition of the new series. It is designed to provide consistent, high-level competitive opportunities for local players, with a focus on enhancing technical proficiency and fostering individual skill development across all age brackets.
The event also functions as a vital recruitment and mentorship platform. Organizers aim to identify promising new talent while simultaneously bridging the gap between emerging athletes and the pioneers who established the sport in the UAE. By facilitating direct interaction between these generations, the federation hopes to pass down decades of competitive experience to its youngest participants.
Major General (Retd.) Abdullah Al Sayed Al Hashemi, President of the Emirates Golf Federation, stated that the tournament series is a cornerstone of the organization’s broader mission to expand the sport’s participation base. He emphasized that the program provides a stable, competitive environment that encourages players to refine their abilities and embrace a healthy spirit of rivalry.
“We are committed to providing a competitive environment through our monthly tournament programme for UAE nationals, bringing together different age groups and offering golfers regular opportunities to improve their performance,” Al Hashemi said. He further noted that the presence of veteran players and pioneers is essential, as their history within the sport adds significant value to the development of the younger generation.
The tournament will feature attendance from federation board members and long-time contributors to UAE golf. Al Hashemi also expressed appreciation for the Abu Dhabi Golf Club’s role as the host, noting that ongoing collaboration with regional clubs remains vital to the federation’s objective of elevating the standard of golf both locally and on the international stage.
