Veteran Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has arrived at Ramoji Film City to commence shooting for the highly anticipated film ‘Dragon’, starring popular South Indian actor Junior NTR. This project marks a significant milestone as Kapoor returns to the Telugu film industry after a hiatus of 46 years. Before stepping in front of the camera, the actor shared a nostalgic reflection on social media, triggered by a memory involving actress Kajol.
On the occasion of Kajol’s birthday this past Wednesday, Kapoor took to Instagram to send his well-wishes while recalling a past conversation they shared at the same location. He recounted how Kajol once jokingly remarked, “You will get married, have a family, and yet you will still find yourself shooting at this very film city!” While the comment was made in jest at the time, Kapoor now views the irony of returning to the exact same spot on her birthday as a blessing. He also expressed his keen desire to collaborate with the actress again in the future.
The film ‘Dragon’ serves as a pivotal moment in Kapoor’s long-standing career. His debut in Telugu cinema occurred in 1980 with the movie ‘Vamsha Vruksham’. Having spent four and a half decades away from the industry, his return is highly anticipated by fans. In this new production, directed by Prashanth Nair, Kapoor will portray Raghubir Rathore, the head of India’s Narcotics Bureau.
Set against the backdrop of international opium trafficking in the 1960s, the narrative explores a brutal power struggle within the criminal underworld. The plot centers on the character ‘Lugar’, a ruthless assassin for an Afghan trading company, played by Junior NTR. The film is being produced as a pan-Indian project, with a scheduled theatrical release on June 11 next year. It will be available in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Beyond the lead performances by Anil Kapoor and Junior NTR, the cast of ‘Dragon’ also features notable actors including Biju Menon, Rukmini Vasanth, and Ashutosh Rana.
