Pep Guardiola is slated to attend Manchester City’s upcoming Champions League home match against Paris St-Germain next week. This appearance will mark the 55-year-old’s first return to the Etihad Stadium since he concluded his ten-year tenure as manager at the end of last season.
The visit coincides with a significant period for the club, as this match represents the first home game since an independent commission ruled that Manchester City was guilty of a majority of the 115 charges filed by the Premier League. These findings concern breaches of financial regulations spanning the 2009-10 through 2017-18 campaigns.
In response to the verdict, which accused the organization of falsely inflating commercial revenue by £830m through the use of sham contracts, Manchester City has maintained its innocence. The club has officially lodged an appeal against the commission’s findings.
Following the decision, Guardiola publicly expressed his continued support for the club’s ownership and leadership structure. In a message shared on social media, he declared that he will always stand behind the club, its owner, chairman, staff, and supporters.
Guardiola’s online statement emphasized his solidarity, stating, “I want every single Manchester City fan across the world to know I am here; more than ever.” He further addressed the fanbase directly, adding, “Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all.”
