Jamaican sprinter Oblique Seville and American Melissa Jefferson-Wooden delivered standout performances to claim 100m victories at the Silesia Diamond League. Seville clocked a meet record of 9.83 seconds, leading a podium that included Americans Kenny Bednarek at 9.87 and Christian Coleman at 9.93. Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis continued his pole vault dominance despite an uncharacteristic three failed attempts. He ultimately cleared 6.20m to take the win, finishing ahead of Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen and Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis, who both cleared 6.00m to secure silver and bronze respectively.

Canada’s hammer throwers maintained their momentum from the Tokyo World Championships, with Ethan Katzberg winning his event with a best of 82.92m and Camryn Rogers taking hers at 77.09m. Meanwhile, Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic won the women’s 400m in 48.87 seconds.
The 3,000m steeplechase saw a notable upset as Ethiopia’s Gemechu Godana defeated two-time Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco, setting a new meet record of 8:02.74. In other track events, Ja’Kobe Tharp won the 110m hurdles in 13.05 seconds, and Alaysha Johnson took the women’s short hurdles in 12.52.
Botswana’s Busang Collen Kebinatshipi impressed in the 400m, smashing the meet record set by Wayde van Niekerk with a time of 43.59 seconds. Rounding out the field events, Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh equalled the meet record in the women’s high jump, clearing 2.00m to secure the victory.
