Chelsea and Manchester United have emerged as potential suitors for AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as both clubs look to bolster their squads before the transfer deadline. According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, the two Premier League giants are actively scouting for midfield reinforcements, with the 22-year-old Senegal international identified as a primary target.
Crystal Palace is also heavily involved in the pursuit, reportedly leading the race to sign Camara as a long-term successor to Adam Wharton. Palace has already seen an initial bid for the player rejected. Earlier this summer, Newcastle United also expressed interest in the midfielder, though they ultimately opted to sign his Monaco teammate, Aladji Bamba, instead.
Manchester United’s interest stems from a desire to secure a deep-lying playmaker capable of replacing Casemiro. Despite already acquiring Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, the club remains intent on further midfield additions. Chelsea’s interest, meanwhile, is linked to the potential departure of Enzo Fernandez. While Fernandez has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, the reigning champions have so far been deterred by a £120 million valuation placed on the Argentine star.
Beyond the interest in Camara, Rio Ferdinand has publicly encouraged Manchester United to pursue Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly, labeling the teenager an ideal fit for both the Red Devils and Chelsea. Although the Arsenal prospect was reportedly offered to both clubs earlier this week, they have currently declined the opportunity. The Gunners are seeking a £45 million fee for the youngster, who is reportedly seeking an exit following the club’s acquisition of Bruno Guimaraes.
