Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has officially signed a five-year contract extension with the Premier League side. The agreement secures the 24-year-old’s future at the Etihad Stadium until at least 2031, providing a significant boost to the squad ahead of the new campaign beginning on August 21.
Since arriving from French club Rennes in 2023, Doku has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attacking threats. Across 131 appearances for the club, he has recorded 22 goals and 34 assists, contributing to a trophy-laden period that includes titles in the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Club World Cup. The Belgium international, who has earned 48 caps and represented his country at the recent World Cup, remains a key figure in the team’s plans.
The extension arrives during a period of transition for the club, as Enzo Maresca takes over from Pep Guardiola as manager. Doku highlighted that the Italian coach’s tactical approach was a primary factor in his decision to commit his long-term future to the club. “I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling,” Doku stated. He noted that he has grown both as a player and an individual, adding, “With Enzo here now, I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that’s exciting for the players.”
City’s director of football, Hugo Viana, praised the winger’s development since his 2023 arrival. “Jeremy is a huge talent whose improvement since joining us in 2023 is clear for all to see,” Viana remarked. He emphasized that Doku possesses the specific characteristics and special dynamic required for the team’s wing play, concluding that the player deserves the new deal and is expected to continue his progression in the coming years.
