Liverpool are reportedly preparing to submit their first formal bid for Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, entering a competitive transfer race that already includes rivals Manchester United. The 18-year-old, who has been part of the Parisian youth setup since the age of 10, is currently under contract with the Ligue 1 champions until 2028.
Mbaye enjoyed a productive 2025-26 campaign, recording three goals and two assists across 31 appearances in all competitions. All of his goal contributions occurred during his 24 Ligue 1 outings, helping Luis Enrique’s squad secure their fifth consecutive league title. Additionally, he featured four times during PSG’s successful UEFA Champions League title defense, which saw the French side defeat Premier League champions Arsenal on penalties in the final to become the first team since Real Madrid to retain the trophy in the modern era.
The teenager’s profile has risen significantly following his debut FIFA World Cup campaign in North America with Senegal. Although Senegal exited in the Round of 32 after a 3-2 extra-time loss to Belgium, Mbaye made a notable impact by scoring in stoppage time during a 3-1 group-stage defeat to France. His season also included a challenging period following the AFCON tournament, where Morocco were declared winners despite losing the final to Senegal. During the domestic season, PSG manager Luis Enrique notably omitted Mbaye from the squad for an April derby against Olympique Lyon, despite the player appearing fit for selection.
While Manchester United have been heavily linked with the forward, they are far from the only suitors. Reports from AS indicate that an asking price of €50 million has been set for the youngster. Liverpool now face stiff competition for his services from a host of European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Porto, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, and Roma.
However, as per L’Equipe (via Metro), Liverpool have also entered the fray and are set to submit a first bid for the teenager, who has been with the Parisians since the age of 10.
PSG boss Luis Enrique explained his decision to drop Ibrahim Mbaye from his squad for the 1-0 Ligue 1 derby defeat at Olympique Lyon in April despite the player being seemingly available for selection.
The teenager has come up through the ranks at the Parc des Princes.
