Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan once detailed the specific qualities she valued in a partner during a candid conversation with veteran actress Farida Jalal. The “Devdas” and “Jodhaa Akbar” star emphasized that she wanted a companion with a genuine sense of humor who could laugh at himself, alongside being respectful, uncomplicated, and non-judgmental toward others.
Speaking to Jalal, Aishwarya described herself as a people’s person and stressed the need for a sensitive, grounded partner. “See, sensitive, have a great sense of humour, have an ability to laugh at himself. Very important. Respect, respect others and himself. Not complex. Should be able to relate to people for who they are, because I guess I am a people’s person. So, uncomplicated, who doesn’t… who is not judgmental. Very human. That’s very important,” she explained during the exchange.
Highlighting what keeps a relationship enduring, Aishwarya noted that mutual compatibility serves as the fundamental anchor over time. “And more than anything else, I think, see these… that will just go on and on and on. I think what’s important at the end of the day is compatibility. I’ve always said this. I think that will be the magic word between us. I mean, love definitely. All that will be there. But I think the fine thread that will probably link us is compatibility, I think,” she said.
Aishwarya later married actor Abhishek Bachchan, whom she reportedly first met in 1999 during a photoshoot for their initial project together, “Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke.” The couple went on to star in several films, including “Kuch Naa Kaho,” “Dhoom 2,” “Sarkar Raj,” “Umrao Jaan,” “Guru,” and “Raavan.” After dating for a period, they tied the knot in a traditional ceremony on April 20, 2007, and later welcomed their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, on Nov. 16, 2011.
Separately, fashion designer Neeta Lulla recently reflected on social media about crafting Aishwarya’s iconic look for the song “Saajan Saajan” in the 2003 movie “Dil Ka Rishta.” Responding to a direct message praising the outfit, Lulla shared an Instagram video discussing how she designed the sensual ensemble, which combined Indian craftsmanship with a modern silhouette featuring a corset-like blouse, a leopard-print skirt, detailed zardozi work, and slitted trousers underneath. Meanwhile, the outfit worn by Aishwarya in the song “Saajan Saajan” from the 2003 film “Dil Ka Rishta” was a blend of sensuality, glamour and Indian craftsmanship, with its corset-style blouse, leopard-print skirt, intri. It featured a contemporary silhouette that continues to feel relevant even today. The intention was to create something sensual and glamorous.”.
