During an official visit to Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, formally recognized twelve students for their exceptional contributions to the “My Ras Al Khaimah – Where Mountains Meet the Sea” art competition. This initiative showcased the students’ creative interpretations of the Emirate’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, honoured 12 students from Guangzhou schools who won the “My Ras Al Khaimah – Where Mountains Meet the Sea” art competition.

Artistic Visions of the Emirate

The participants drew upon various research and imaginative concepts to craft their visual tributes. Their works seamlessly integrated a diverse array of local icons and natural environments, including

  • Majestic mountain ranges and expansive desert landscapes
  • Coastal beauty featuring traditional dhow sailing vessels
  • Cultural symbols such as pearls, falcons, and local wildlife like gazelles
  • Vibrant depictions of mangroves, historical forts, and recreational elements like hot air balloons

By blending these varied motifs, the young artists offered a unique perspective on the spirit of Ras Al Khaimah, successfully capturing both the traditional character and the modern vitality of the region.

Strengthening Global Connections

Reflecting on the exhibition, Sheikh Saud remarked, “The artwork allowed me to see Ras Al Khaimah through the eyes of a new generation of our friends in China. Art is a language that connects us before we even meet, and what these young artists have created marks the beginning of a friendship that starts with children and grows with them.” This cultural exchange serves as a platform to foster lasting bonds between the UAE and China, emphasizing the role of creative expression in uniting people across borders. The competition is a key component of a broader educational program designed to bridge cultural gaps and establish meaningful, enduring relationships between the youth of both nations. The competition formed part of a wider cultural exchange programme aimed at bringing people and cultures closer together and building lasting connections between younger generations.
