Pop music icons Elton John and Dua Lipa are celebrating the fifth anniversary of their successful collaboration, Cold Heart, a track that has accumulated 5.3 billion streams. To mark the milestone, the pair shared a series of photographs together on social media. In a joint statement, they reflected on the journey, noting, “Five years since Cold Heart brought us together, 5.3 billion streams later, and five years of a wonderful friendship. Thank you to all of you for continuing to love and support the track.”
The song, titled Cold Heart (Pnau remix), was released in August 2021 as a lead single through EMI and Mercury for digital download and streaming. The project was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, serving as a testament to a friendship that first began in November 2020. The track functions as a medley of four songs penned by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, alongside Andrew Meecham, Dean Meredith, Nicholas Littlemore, Peter Mayes, and Sam Littlemore, with the latter three producing the work under the dance music group Pnau.
Elton John, a renowned British singer, composer, and pianist, remains one of the best-selling artists in history with over 300 million records sold worldwide. The 79-year-old musician is celebrated for his showmanship and his long-standing songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin. An EGOT winner, John has earned five Grammy Awards, two Academy Awards, a Primetime Emmy, a Tony, two Golden Globes, a Laurence Olivier Award, and the Kennedy Center Honors. Beyond his chart success, John is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His contributions to music and charity were recognized in 1998 when he was appointed a Knight Bachelor, and he was later named a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour in 2020.
Dua Lipa has also achieved significant acclaim, boasting seven Brit Awards and three Grammy Awards. Since releasing her debut album in 2017, which reached number three on the UK Albums Chart, she has produced hits including Be the One, IDGAF, and the UK number-one single New Rules.
