India has expanded Auqib Nabi’s role for the upcoming 50-over series against New Zealand, drafting the right-arm pacer into the squad for the first three ODIs starting November 4. Previously selected only for the final two games of the five-match series, Nabi will now remain with the side from the start of the tour. This tactical adjustment follows confirmation that Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the entire series.

Injury and Selection Updates

  • Prasidh Krishna remains unavailable for selection after failing to regain full match fitness while recovering from a hamstring injury.
  • Krishna requires additional time to increase his bowling workload and is expected to return for the subsequent Test series.
  • Nabi’s inclusion brings an additional pace option into the mix.
  • Nabi was not a part of India’s T20I side but has been in New Zealand with the A team.
  • Having featured in the first unofficial Test against the hosts, Nabi was omitted from the revised squad for the second unofficial Test that commenced on October 31.
  • The pacer has played one ODI to date, debuting against the West Indies in Guwahati last month.
