Bollywood actress Shahana Goswami, recognized for her role in ‘Baa Bahoo Aur Baby’, has sparked a heated public conversation by openly admitting to being in relationships with five people at once. Speaking candidly during a recent interview, she dismissed the need for secrecy regarding her dating life, arguing that because she maintains open relationships, she holds no exclusive commitments and fully enjoys her freedom. This revelation triggered significant criticism and online trolling against the actress.
Addressing the backlash, Goswami highlighted the perceived double standards in society, noting that while people often overlook the extramarital affairs of men, they are quick to judge and condemn women for their personal choices. She emphasized that individuals should be free to explore multiple connections if they feel comfortable, without facing societal scrutiny. Her remarks have drawn strong reactions, fueling a wider discourse on how the public handles female autonomy and sexual expression.
Standing in her defense, actress Shweta Keswani critiqued these societal double standards during a discussion with Siddharth Kannan. Keswani argued that if a woman is happy and fulfilled in an open relationship, the public should refrain from judging her, pointing out that society typically remains silent on men’s infidelity while actively targeting women who are transparent about their lives. She further noted that managing a single relationship can be mentally exhausting, making the commitment to multiple partners a complex personal decision that deserves respect.
Keswani expressed frustration over the public’s intrusive interest in Goswami’s private affairs, stating that she fully respects the actress’s lifestyle choices and wishes her well. She dismissed the critics who continue to monitor and question the personal lives of others. Throughout her career, Shahana Goswami has achieved significant critical acclaim, including a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress and a Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress for the 2008 film ‘Rock On!!’. She also received nominations for both awards for her performance in ‘Firaaq’ (2008), and she is the daughter of prominent Indian economist Omkar Goswami.
