Richard Childress Racing announced on Monday that Austin Hill will join the team’s NASCAR Cup Series lineup on a full-time basis starting next season. Hill is set to pilot the No. 33 Chevrolet, marking a significant step forward in his professional racing career.
While Hill has participated in 15 Cup races during the current season, he has yet to secure a top-10 finish. Despite these recent results, his track record in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series remains strong. Over the past five seasons, he has accumulated 16 victories while driving the team’s No. 21 Chevrolet and has successfully qualified for the Chase in each of those years.
Richard Childress, the chairman and CEO of RCR, praised Hill’s development and work ethic, noting that his consistent success across various levels of competition has earned him this promotion. The team has a storied history of cultivating talent, having previously developed drivers such as Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Austin Dillon, and Tyler Reddick.
Reflecting on the announcement, Hill expressed his gratitude for the continued support from the organization. “I’m extremely thankful to Richard and everyone at RCR for believing in me and giving me this opportunity,” he stated. “Every race car driver dreams of competing full time in the NASCAR Cup Series, and to have that opportunity with RCR is something I don’t take for granted.” The report also notes that especially this year with everything he’s taken on, he’s put a tremendous amount of effort into his career.
