British entertainer Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, widely known as Yung Filly, is set to face a retrial on three counts of rape in Australia. This development follows a recent trial in which a jury acquitted the 31-year-old of several other sexual assault charges but remained deadlocked on these specific allegations.
Barrientos, a prominent social media figure recognized for his work with the Beta Squad collective and appearances on programs like Channel 4’s celebrity Bake Off and Three, was originally charged with 10 offences. These accusations stem from an incident in 2024 following a performance at a nightclub in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth. Prosecutors alleged that after meeting a 20-year-old fan at the venue, Barrientos brought her to his hotel room, where he allegedly became violent and ignored her requests to cease sexual activity.
During the proceedings, the defense team argued that the complainant’s testimony was unreliable, citing what they described as inconsistencies, embellishments, and outright lies. Conversely, prosecutor Danielle Clarke characterized Barrientos as an entitled individual with a moderate level of fame who had violated the woman in an extremely intrusive manner.
In his own testimony, Barrientos maintained that he had been attracted to the woman when they first met in the VIP area of the concert venue. He claimed that the atmosphere between them remained positive when they later arrived at his hotel, insisting that their sexual encounter was consensual.
While the jury found him not guilty on three counts of rape, as well as one count of assault and one of strangulation, they did return guilty verdicts on two separate assault charges. Sentencing for those two convictions has been deferred until the conclusion of the upcoming retrial. The prosecution has confirmed that the complainant is prepared to provide testimony once more.
Barrientos, who was born in Colombia and raised in the United Kingdom, is scheduled to appear in court again on 27 August for a hearing regarding a bail variation application. A specific date for the retrial has not yet been determined. The report also notes that the YouTuber, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was charged with repeatedly raping and assaulting a fan after performing at a nightclub in Perth in 2024.
