Christian Eriksen has officially departed German second-tier side Wolfsburg by mutual consent. The 34-year-old midfielder, who has earned 151 international caps, had a contract that was scheduled to run until June 2027.
The decision comes roughly three months after Eriksen collapsed during a friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine. The veteran player, who was fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) in 2022, previously suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland in Copenhagen.
Eriksen, who has not featured in a match since June, joined the German club as a free agent last year following his exit from Manchester United. During his tenure, he made 34 appearances for the team, having also played for clubs including Ajax, Tottenham, Inter Milan, and Brentford.
