Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya are reportedly tapped to star in the television adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ popular romantasy novel, Fourth Wing, for Prime Video. While the studio has not yet confirmed the casting, industry outlets suggest the two actors will anchor the high-stakes project. Which has yet to confirm the rumored casting, has reached out to Amazon MGM Studios.

McGregor, the daughter of actor Ewan McGregor who recently appeared in the mystery series We Were Liars, is slated to portray Violet Sorrengail. In the narrative, the character is an unassuming scholar forced into a brutal path as a dragon rider by her mother, an army general. Opposite her, German actor Emilio Sakraya—known for his work alongside Anthony Hopkins in the gladiator drama Those About to Die—is expected to play Xaden Riorson. The character is described as an ambitious, formidable warrior determined to rise within the ranks of the elite dragon riders.

The story, set at the perilous Basgiath War College where students must graduate or die, centers on the pair’s volatile enemies-to-lovers relationship. Fourth Wing, published in 2023, is the debut entry in the Empyrean series, which is projected to span five volumes. To date, the first three installments have achieved significant global commercial success, selling millions of copies. The pair are the antithesis of one another, making for a classic enemies-to-lovers arc as they battle their way through the tyrannous Basgiath War College where there are only two ways to leave: graduate or die, in Yarros’ novel. Book lovers took to the internet Friday to have their say on the rumored castings.
