Namibia leveled their five-match ODI series at 1-1 against Ireland on Saturday, securing a 31-run victory following a dominant performance by captain Gerhard Erasmus. Erasmus anchored the Namibian innings with an unbeaten career-best 156 off 125 balls, helping his side reach 321/6. In response, Ireland was dismissed for 290 runs in 47.3 overs despite a spirited effort from Paul Stirling. Stirling, dropped twice in the deep and at point, reached his second successive fifty and took the score to 98/1.

After opting to bowl first, Ireland made early inroads, reducing Namibia to 49/2 by the 11th over. Louren Steenkamp was caught behind off Byron McDonough, and Michael van Lingen edged a delivery from Curtis Campher to Stirling. However, Erasmus and Jan Frylinck steadied the ship, constructing a 117-run partnership for the third wicket. Frylinck contributed 76 runs, including six fours and two sixes, before being dismissed by Gavin Hoey, who ended the match with impressive figures of 3/53. Adding 117 off 135 for the third wicket before Frylinck, who hit 6 fours and 2 sixes, holed out to deep midwicket off leg-spinner Gavin Hoey in the, frylinck and Erasmus rebuilt carefully against some tight spin bowling. And the early exchanges suggested another tough day for batting, ireland won the toss and chose to field after winning a low-scoring opener.

The latter stages of the innings saw an aggressive acceleration from Namibia, with Erasmus reaching his century in the 46th over and scoring 56 runs off his final 17 deliveries. Supported by Alexander Volschenk’s cameo of 30 off 20 balls, Namibia hammered 111 runs in the final ten overs. Ireland’s bowlers struggled during this surge, particularly during the penultimate overs where the seamers conceded runs freely. He reached his third ODI hundred off 108 balls in the 46th over and then needed only 17 more to add 56. Including 79 in the last five, ireland’s seamers were punished as Namibia scored 111 in the last 10 overs. Campher’s ninth over cost 19 and McDonough’s went for 19 as well while Alexander Volschenk chipped in with 30 off 20 balls before he was caught in the final over.

Ireland’s chase began with a 54-run opening stand until Andrew Balbirnie was run out. Although Stirling provided momentum with 77 runs, the team collapsed mid-innings, losing four wickets for just 27 runs. Max Heingo removed Cade Carmichael, while Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton dismissed Harry Tector, and Jack Brassell—who took 4/52—trapped Stirling lbw to leave Ireland struggling at 125/5. Ireland’s openers put on 54 before Andrew Balbirnie was run out for 22.

A late resistance led by George Dockrell, who scored 48, and Campher, who made 45, restored hope with an 85-run stand. Later, Gavin Hoey smashed three sixes to score 31 off 21 balls, pairing with Jai Moondra to narrow the deficit to 34 runs from the final three overs. The comeback was cut short when Erasmus returned to the attack, catching Moondra off his own bowling and trapping Hoey at short fine leg to seal the match. But Erasmus, who reached his fifty off 62 balls, was building towards a late assault.
