Singer-actress Hilary Duff has returned to the holiday music scene with the release of her latest EP, titled Holiday Things. Announcing the project on Instagram, Duff shared a collection of images from the cover photoshoot and detailed her approach to the season, noting that she has a somewhat complicated, love-hate relationship with the festivities.
While she embraces the traditions, music, shopping, sweaters, and gingerbread houses, the performer prefers to keep the holiday spirit concentrated. As she put it, she enjoys the season thoroughly, but likes for it all to be packed back into her attic by the start of the new year. She encouraged fans to listen to the new EP, then tuck it away to revisit the following year. Music, decorations, sweaters, shopping, gingy bread houses and more more more … I also like it to be concentrated and back in my attic by Jan 1!”, i live for the Christmas spirit … traditions.
Duff first entered the music industry in 2002 with the debut album Santa Clause Lane. That project included covers of seasonal classics such as Jingle Bell Rock, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Sleigh Ride, Last Christmas, and Wonderful Christmastime. The record featured guest contributions from Haylie Duff, Romeo Miller, and Christina Milian, eventually reaching the number 154 spot on the US Billboard 200, while peaking at number two on both the Top Kid Audio and Top Heatseekers charts.
Following her debut, the actress and singer saw her career climb significantly with her second studio album, Metamorphosis. That release hit the top of the Billboard 200 and secured a 4× Platinum certification from the RIAA. She maintained her momentum through the commercial success of her subsequent albums, including Dignity, her self-titled Hilary Duff, and the 2005 compilation Most Wanted, all of which achieved either gold or platinum status.
Her discography continued to expand with later releases, including her fifth album, Breathe In. Breathe Out, followed by her sixth studio project, Luck… or Something. Fans can now stream her latest holiday musical offering as she once again participates in the traditions she has come to characterize with her unique, time-bound appreciation.
