Royce Keys is setting his sights on WWE NXT. Following a social media post on X ahead of Wednesday’s broadcast, the leader of the 946 faction has sparked speculation that he could bring his group’s brand of chaos to the developmental brand. Royce Keys Teases 946 Appearing On This Week’s WWE NXT After Adding Another Member. The 946 leader posted a message on X, ahead of Wednesday’s show. Montana’s new stablemate and 946 leader, Keys, teased the idea of causing mayhem on NXT.
This tease comes shortly after the recruitment of Cruz Montana, formerly known as Mike Santana, the two-time TNA World Champion. Montana emerged during the November 2 edition of RAW in Brooklyn to answer Keys’ call. During that night’s main event, which saw Keys face Solo Sikoa, the match concluded in a disqualification once the 946 stable interfered. The situation escalated when Roman Reigns and The Usos intervened, resulting in Montana striking Reigns with a steel chair before delivering his signature move and revealing his identity to assist Keys.
Despite this high-profile RAW appearance, Montana remains tied to NXT business. General Manager Robert Stone has already confirmed that Montana is scheduled for an unsanctioned match against Dion Lennox this week, with UFC fighter Michael Chandler serving as the special guest referee. Whether or not Keys accompanies his newest recruit to ringside remains a point of intense speculation.
The momentum surrounding 946 has drawn significant comparisons to iconic factions of the past. WWE analyst Sam Roberts previously likened the group’s impact to a hybrid of The Shield and The Nexus. Like The Shield, the group operates without clear allegiances, while their penchant for tearing through the roster mimics the approach taken by The Nexus. With the group prioritizing expansion over temporary alliances, many anticipate that Survivor Series: WarGames, scheduled for November 28 in Houston, will serve as their next major destination.
