Under the patronage of Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Chairman of Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club, the facility is set to inaugurate its 2026–2027 sporting season on Saturday, October 31. The event marks the 17th annual edition of the Pink Polo tournament, a signature initiative that combines competitive equestrian sports with a significant humanitarian mission.
A centerpiece of this year’s festivities will be an exhibition match featuring Sheikha Alia Al Maktoum, who is set to lead the Ghantoot Polo squad against the Elite Group Holding team, captained by Ahmed Al Nuaimi. This match highlights the event’s core focus on solidarity and community engagement in the fight against breast cancer.
The tournament is held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, aiming to leverage the popularity of polo to advocate for early detection and regular screenings. Organizers emphasize that the event serves as a platform to encourage preventive healthcare, reaching diverse segments of the community through the lens of sport and wellness.
Saeed Bin Houfan Al Mansouri, Vice Chairman of the club’s Board of Directors, emphasized that the ongoing patronage of Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan underscores the profound impact the initiative has cultivated over the past 16 years. He noted that the club remains steadfast in its support for national disease-prevention campaigns and public awareness efforts.
The 17th edition will also integrate graduates from the “Fares Abu Dhabi” programme, an initiative dedicated to teaching equestrian skills. Participation allows these students to immerse themselves in the professional polo community, reinforcing the values of social responsibility alongside their athletic training.
Diversity will be a key feature of the day, with substantial participation from the Irish Gaelic Football Association and a dedicated exhibition featuring emerging Emirati talent in a junior polo match. These additions aim to foster cultural exchange and highlight the growing base of youth involvement in local sports.
Medical partners, including Burjeel Hospitals, will provide critical support during the event. A specialized team of doctors will be on-site with a mobile mammography vehicle to offer complimentary screening services, directly improving accessibility to preventive care for all attendees.
Supported by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the organizing committee has finalized a comprehensive program of entertainment and sporting activities. Al Mansouri confirmed that all measures are in place to ensure the event effectively communicates its message of solidarity to families and sports enthusiasts, further cementing the club’s role as a pillar of community service.
