Paris St Germain have officially signed Spanish World Cup final match-winner Ferran Torres from Barcelona, with both clubs confirming the deal on Saturday. The 26-year-old forward has committed to a contract running until 2031.
While the clubs did not disclose official financial terms, reports suggest that PSG paid in the region of €50 million ($57.83 million) to secure the forward’s services. This move follows a significant period of transition for the Parisian squad.
PSG head coach Luis Enrique addressed the signing during a press conference on Saturday, stating, “I am happy, of course. I think we are improving our team.” He added, “It has been a transfer window with players leaving, and right now it is important to find this type of player. We are always open to improving the team. That is our ambition.”
The club’s roster has seen notable departures, including Portugal forward Goncalo Ramos, who left PSG for AC Milan during the close season after recording 12 goals in 45 appearances. Reflecting on the squad’s evolution, Enrique remarked, “Everyone agrees it’s important to make changes when a team is not performing, but to keep winning, you have to be willing to make tough decisions. You have to be ambitious.”
Torres, who scored the decisive extra-time winner against Argentina in the World Cup final, expressed his enthusiasm for the move. “I’m delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris St Germain,” he said in a statement. He also extended his gratitude to President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Luis Campos, and Luis Enrique for the opportunity to join the team.
The forward arrives in Paris following a productive season at Barcelona, where he scored 21 goals and registered three assists in 49 appearances across all competitions, helping the club retain their LaLiga title. Torres previously joined Barcelona in 2022 after a brief spell with Premier League side Manchester City.
With 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain, Torres will now reunite with Luis Enrique, having previously played under the manager during his time in charge of the national team.
