The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially approved a new domestic competition framework that consolidates First-Class, List A One-Day, and List A T20 formats into a single six-team structure. These teams, which are set to be backed by prominent corporate and financial institutions across the country, will participate under three-year ownership agreements. The inaugural event of this initiative will be the T20 tournament, currently penciled in for a December 2026 window.
Following recommendations from the Working Committee, the board has implemented a significant revision to domestic match fees. Men’s players competing in the four-day format are now set to receive Tk 1.5 lakh per match, while participants in One-Day and T20 fixtures will earn Tk 1 lakh and Tk 80,000, respectively. Additionally, players appearing in the National Cricket League 2nd XI will see their match fees adjusted to Tk 15,000.
Financial reforms also extend to the women’s domestic circuit, where new compensation packages have been established: Tk 40,000 for three-day matches, Tk 30,000 for One-Day games, and Tk 20,000 for T20 appearances. Beyond these structural changes, the board authorized a pay increase for the Bangladesh Under-19 team, effectively doubling the squad’s daily allowance from Tk 10,000 to Tk 20,000.
By integrating these various formats under one banner, the BCB aims to streamline the professional pathway for domestic cricketers. The move toward corporate ownership marks a strategic shift in the organization of national tournaments, ensuring that top-tier institutions have a stake in the development and sustainability of the country’s multi-format domestic calendar over the coming years.
