National selectors have officially picked three players to join the Indian cricket contingent heading to Japan as unofficial net bowlers. This addition provides essential support for the Shreyas Iyer-led squad as they prepare for a series of competitive fixtures.
Japan-Bound Personnel Details
- Rasikh Salam Dar, aged 26, representing Jammu & Kashmir and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
- Vicky Ostwal, aged 24, representing Maharashtra and Delhi Capitals.
- Kartik Tyagi, aged 25, representing Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata Knight Riders.
These players were attached to the side to facilitate training sessions and are understood to have departed New Delhi for Tokyo on the night of September 19. The team is scheduled for a practice session on September 21 at the Sano International Stadium, followed by a bilateral T20I fixture against Japan the next day. The squad will remain in Sano for several days before traveling to Nagoya for the Asian Games, where their opening match is slated for September 28. The current main roster consists of only 14 members, as Nitish Kumar Reddy was withdrawn to join the ODI side for the upcoming home series against the West Indies.
West Indies Series Schedule
Separately, the Indian ODI squad, captained by Shubman Gill, has been instructed to assemble in Trivandrum on September 23. This 15-member group is preparing for a busy home schedule against the West Indies, starting with the first ODI on September 27. Subsequent ODIs will take place in Guwahati on September 30 and New Chandigarh on October 3. The itinerary concludes with a five-match T20I series beginning in Lucknow on October 6.
