Patrick Reed Eyes European Title at DP World Tour

Major champion Patrick Reed has officially confirmed he will compete in the upcoming DP World Tour Championship, scheduled for November 12-15 at the Jumeirah Golf Estates. Currently leading the Race to Dubai Rankings, the 36-year-old American is focused on securing the prestigious Harry Vardon Trophy to cap off a dominant season.

Reed has maintained his position at the top of the rankings for more than seven months, having surged into the lead this past February. His momentum began in January with a commanding four-stroke victory at the Rolex Series event, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, which marked his fourth career DP World Tour title. The 2018 Masters champion followed that achievement just two weeks later by clinching the Qatar Masters, adding a fifth tour title to his resume.

Standing at World Number 29, Reed is now in a position to become only the second American to be crowned European Number One. He aims to follow in the footsteps of Collin Morikawa, who earned the title in 2021 while also becoming the first American to win the DP World Tour Championship. When competition begins next month on the Earth course, it will mark Reed’s eighth appearance at this marquee event.

“Dubai is where the season really got going for me, so it would be pretty cool to finish it there with the Harry Vardon Trophy,” Reed remarked. “I’ve played the DP World Tour Championship a bunch of times over the years, so I know the golf course pretty well and what it takes to get it done there. There are some really good players behind me, and that’s what makes the DP World Tour so competitive. You know you’re going to have to play well right to the end.”

The path to victory remains challenging, with Rory McIlroy, a three-time winner of this championship, leading the pursuit. McIlroy, who successfully defended his Masters title in April, is chasing an eighth Race to Dubai crown to equal Colin Montgomerie’s record. Other top contenders challenging for the season-ending glory include 2026 US PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai, Eugenio Chacarra, and Open Champion Ryan Fox.

Now in its 18th year, the tournament serves as a major fixture on Dubai’s sporting and social calendar. Organizers are offering free entry for the opening round on November 12, provided fans pre-register. The event will again feature the 1st Tee Experience, allowing spectators access to a dedicated area with refreshments to watch the opening drives.

For those looking for premium viewing, the Championship Chalet on the 18th green offers five-star catering and exclusive access to a 1st-tee platform. Alternatively, the Earth Lounge on the 16th green provides a relaxed atmosphere for watching the final stages of the action. Beyond the professional play, the Championship Village is set to host various activities, including free golf lessons, trick-shot displays, family-oriented entertainment, and dedicated Ladies and Family days. The Championship Village offers a full day out for fans of all ages, away from the course. Free golf lessons, trick-shot shows, big screens and sports activations, along with Ladies Day on Saturday and Family Day on Sunday, it features dedicated kids zones.
