Bollywood star Kriti Sanon has confirmed her next venture, marking a departure from her recent roles as she prepares to lead a yet-to-be-titled horror feature. While the actress has enjoyed a strong run at the box office, including the recent performance of Cocktail 2—which grossed INR 100 crore globally in its first six days—she is now looking to pivot toward new creative challenges. According to industry insiders, the decision stems from a desire to explore genres outside her recent filmography, specifically targeting a large-scale, pure horror narrative. However, its collections slowed as the theatrical run progressed. Although the film’s outcome remained respectable rather than exceptional at the box-office, kriti’s performance was a highlight.
This production represents the ninth collaboration between Sanon and Maddock Films. Their working relationship has yielded significant successes, most notably the film Mimi, which earned the actress a National Award. While Maddock Films is widely recognized for its contributions to the horror-comedy genre, this upcoming project is described as an out-and-out horror film, signaling a new stylistic direction for the production house. Producers are reportedly planning a grand mounting for the project, though specific details regarding the plot and supporting cast remain confidential. And her return to a solo lead with the production house adds another exciting d, this marks her 9th collaboration with Maddock Films. Her association with Maddock Films has previously resulted in memorable collaborations.
The announcement follows a period of professional momentum for Sanon, who received critical appreciation for her roles in both Cocktail 2, directed by Homi Adajania and co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, and the project Tere Ishk Mein. Despite a slowing theatrical trajectory for her last film, her individual performance was widely regarded as a standout success. A source closer to the development revealed, “After receiving praise for her performances in ‘Cocktail 2’ and ‘Tere Ishk Mein,’ Kriti Sanon has finally locked her next project.
Beyond her professional commitments, Sanon recently appeared in a lighthearted social media video alongside her younger sister, Nupur Sanon. The reel featured the siblings lip-syncing to musical numbers, including Main Heroine Hoon from the 2012 film Heroine and Sharara Sharara from the 2002 release Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai. The sisters were shown sharing candid moments, reflecting a close personal bond that has been publicly visible throughout the year. The mood then shifts as Nupur joins and grooves to “Sharara Sharara” from the 2002 film “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai,” starring Uday Chopra, Tulip Joshi and Jimmy Sheirgill. The sisters can be seen having fun together, in a video shared by Nupur.
This sibling connection was particularly prominent during Nupur Sanon’s wedding to singer Stebin Ben in January 2026. Held in Udaipur, the multi-day celebration incorporated both Hindu and Christian wedding traditions. Kriti Sanon played an active role throughout the festivities, famously carrying the traditional phoolon ki chaddar during the Hindu ceremony. Following the wedding, the actress shared a poignant tribute to her sister, reflecting on their long-standing relationship, which dates back to Nupur’s early childhood.
