Representatives for the 41-year-old athlete confirmed that the couple wed on Tuesday during a private and intimate ceremony held in the Portuguese resort town of Cascais, where the pair owns a villa.
The announcement followed intense media speculation regarding the wedding’s location. While rumors had previously suggested the event might take place in Sintra or at a cathedral in Funchal—Ronaldo’s birthplace—the couple ultimately chose the elite seaside resort located 30km west of Lisbon. The Funchal cathedral had previously clarified that no ceremony was scheduled there, though they noted it would have been an honor to host the couple.
Ronaldo, who currently plays for the Saudi club Al-Nassr and represented Portugal at this summer’s World Cup, shared the news on Instagram. He posted a photo of the couple’s hands displaying their wedding bands, accompanied by the caption: “C [heart] G.” The ceremony was attended by the couple’s five children, according to the Brunswick Group, which manages the player’s public relations.
The marriage comes exactly one year after the 32-year-old influencer announced their engagement on social media. The couple first met in 2016 while Rodriguez was working at a Gucci store in Madrid.
