Rachin Ravindra has been ruled out of the upcoming home T20I series against India after dislocating his right shoulder during a promotional shoot. His rehabilitation is expected to take around six weeks, with a target of returning for the ODI series against India that starts on November 4.
Coaching Staff Response
New Zealand head coach Rob Walter addressed the injury, stating: “We’re gutted for Rachin. He’s going to play a big role for us this summer so it’s important that he doesn’t rush his rehab, but we’re optimistic he’ll be back for the ODIs.” Ben Sears, currently recovering from an ankle injury, was also not considered for selection as New Zealand named a 16-member squad for the series beginning October 22.
Squad Developments
- Thirteen players from the squad that finished runner-up to India in this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup return, including Michael Bracewell and Adam Milne, who were both previously sidelined with injuries.
- Adam Milne, who last played for New Zealand against Zimbabwe over a year ago, joins a pace attack featuring Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, and Nathan Smith.

Regarding the upcoming competition, Walter noted, “It’s going to be awesome to welcome India to our shores and get summer underway. India is a quality team and a challenging opposition. We’ve got a near full-strength squad that covers all bases and I’m excited to see how we compete against the current T20 world champions.” Walter added that he expects many of the matches to be sold-out, anticipating a series of incredible occasions for Kiwi fans.
