Actress Lucy Davis has shared her appreciation for the outpouring of support she has received since revealing she is living with incurable breast cancer. The 53-year-old performer made her first public appearance since the announcement at the For The Love of Fantasy & Sci-Fi convention, held at Excel London this Saturday.
During a panel discussion focused on her performance in the 2004 zombie-comedy Shaun of the Dead, Davis addressed an audience of hundreds. She reflected on the positive interactions she experienced with fans throughout the event, describing the community as a supportive, unexpected second family. She noted that the group is friendly toward both the cast and one another, adding that the world could benefit from more kindness, which is why she feels particularly grateful.
This appearance comes less than two weeks after the star first disclosed her health condition to her followers in a post on Instagram. The report also notes that everyone is like a community, friendly, supportive of not only us but you guys and each other,” she said, it’s like this whole second family you never knew you had.
