Reflecting on her performance, Reese noted that her struggles with shooting led her to focus on her rebounding presence. “Last time I was here, I didn’t miss any shots. Tonight I couldn’t hit anything, so I knew I was going to be able to get them on the rebounding side,” she explained during the postgame show. “I just want to be there for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win.” Reese finished the night with 11 points, securing her league-leading 27th double-double of the season with a basket in the final 13.9 seconds.
Teammate Allisha Gray, who led Atlanta (25-13) with 20 points, praised the rookie’s impact, stating, “That’s a talent. I’m just in awe watching her rebound.” Gray also set a new franchise record for field goals in a single season with 247, while Rhyne Howard contributed 18 points to surpass 3,000 career points. The win marked the ninth consecutive victory for the Dream over the Sparks. For Los Angeles (13-25), Nneka Ogwumike recorded 27 points and 16 rebounds, with Dearica Hamby and Cameron Brink each adding 15 points.
Reese, who is currently averaging 12.0 rebounds per game, continues to lead the league in that category for the third consecutive season. Her career trajectory remains historic; as a rookie, she set a WNBA record with 13.1 rebounds per game and established an all-time league mark with 15 consecutive double-doubles while playing for Chicago in 2024.
