Reigning Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris has officially extended his tenure with McLaren, signing a new agreement that keeps him with the team until at least 2030. The 26-year-old British driver’s deal, announced on Saturday, also includes a multi-year option that could extend his stay even further. As a unique component of this contract, Norris will receive one of the race cars he piloted during his successful 2025 championship campaign as a personal gift.
Since making his debut with the team in 2019, Norris has established himself as a cornerstone of the organization, recording 13 race victories, 18 pole positions, and 48 podium finishes. Reflecting on the extension, Norris stated, “McLaren is my home, and I’m very pleased to be signing a new contract to keep me with the team until at least 2030.” He noted that when he began his journey nine years ago, his primary objectives were to return McLaren to the front of the grid and secure world titles. Having achieved those goals, he expressed a desire for continued success, adding that he is eager to return to the track at Monza and remains optimistic about the team’s future prospects.
Team principal Andrea Stella praised the driver’s contributions, describing him as an essential figure in the team’s recent success. “Lando has been an integral part of McLaren’s journey and success over the last nine years, and we are delighted to continue our partnership with him through to at least 2030,” Stella said. He further characterized Norris as an exceptional talent who balances natural speed with maturity and consistency, while also being a valued member of the team’s culture.
Currently, Norris holds fourth place in the driver standings after 12 events, trailing Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli by 83 points. Having secured victories in the last two races, he is looking to maintain his momentum when the season resumes with the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on September 6.
