The Duchess of Sussex is currently in preliminary discussions to join the cast of the Netflix series The Gentlemen, according to information obtained by. While the specific details of the potential role remain confidential, the project would represent her first significant acting engagement since her marriage to Prince Harry in May 2018.

The show, created by Guy Ritchie and starring Theo James, centers on a duke who transitions into a drug baron. Previous installments of the series have featured actors such as Hugh Bonneville and Vinnie Jones. The production has frequently utilized locations in the Cotswolds, which is reportedly the region where the Sussexes intend to establish their new home upon returning to the UK later this month.

Before stepping back from her professional career, Meghan was widely recognized for her seven-season tenure as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits. Her final appearance on the show aired in 2018. At the time, she described her departure from acting as the start of “a new chapter,” noting that she did not view the decision as a sacrifice. Recently, she made a brief return to the screen with a cameo as herself in the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends, which features Lily Collins and Brie Larson.

Beyond her potential acting return, the Duchess is expected to focus on expanding the reach of her US-based lifestyle and cooking brand, As Ever, during her time in Britain. This professional shift coincides with the family’s planned relocation from the United States to a private, non-royal residence outside of London.

The couple’s children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, are already enrolled to begin attending a British school this September. This move follows a July visit where the family met with King Charles III at his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire. The meeting marked the first time the King had seen his grandchildren in over four years and served as the couple’s first joint visit to the UK since 2022.

Despite the relocation, there are currently no plans for the Duke or Duchess to resume duties as working royals. Their return has, however, prompted renewed discussions regarding their security arrangements. Since transitioning away from royal duties in 2020 and moving to the US, the couple has funded their own protection, as their publicly funded security was downgraded.

The Royal and VIP Executive Committee, an independent body under the Home Office, is now tasked with determining future security protocols. Previous assessments were predicated on the assumption that the Sussexes would not be living in the UK on a permanent basis. The report also notes that guy Ritchie (centre) with Theo James and Kaya Scodelario at a London launch for a previous series of The Gentlemen in 2024. The report also notes that where they have paid for their own protection, their UK security was downgraded after they stopped being working royals in 2020 and moved to the US.
