Napoli confirmed on Tuesday that midfielder Scott McTominay has successfully undergone a medical procedure to address a minor heart rhythm disorder. The 29-year-old underwent an ablation at Spire Manchester Hospital on Tuesday morning, with the club describing the operation as a complete success.
The Serie A side stated that McTominay is now required to rest for two weeks before he can resume training. This recovery period will see the Scotland international miss upcoming Nations League fixtures against Switzerland, North Macedonia, and two matches against Slovenia.
Since transferring from Manchester United in 2024, McTominay has established himself as a vital component of the Napoli squad, recording 27 goals across 82 appearances. Despite his recent impact, he struggled to find his rhythm during the club’s opening two Serie A matches of the current campaign.
Napoli currently sits with three points from their first three league games. The team faces a busy schedule ahead, starting with a Champions League clash against Arsenal this Wednesday, followed by domestic fixtures against Bologna and Fiorentina prior to the upcoming international break.
