Singer-songwriter Noel Gallagher has described his brother and former Oasis bandmate, Liam Gallagher, as “delightful” following their reconciliation. The siblings, whose relationship was marked by a significant rift after the band’s 2009 split, have mended their bond since reuniting for the group’s long-awaited tour last year. Now closer than ever, the pair describe themselves as “mates” who communicate frequently, often sharing videos and staying in touch far more than they ever did in the past.
This newfound dynamic is explored in the new documentary filmOasis: Don’t Look Back in Angerwhich chronicles their reunion. Noel noted that the transition to a more positive relationship happened almost wordlessly, stating, “It was all forgiven without saying a word.” He added that the petty grievances that once fueled their power struggles have vanished, allowing them to move forward as equals. Liam echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the music served as the catalyst for their reconciliation, noting, “The music brought us back together. Oasis man. Oasis saves.”
Despite acknowledging that Liam can be challenging during rehearsals, Noel expressed genuine awe at his brother’s performance abilities. He described a stark contrast between the two versions of his brother: the man who attends rehearsals and the magnetic frontman who commands the stage. “There’s the guy on stage who bounces a tambourine on his head. And makes it look cool,” Noel remarked. “If I did that I’d look like an utter ****. But somehow he does it and it’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. I’d forgotten what he means to people.”
Reflecting on their past hostility, Liam admitted that the reconciliation has provided a sense of relief, stating, “It feels like a weight has been lifted. We all said st that didn’t matter. I didn’t realise it was coming out of my mouth, half the s***.” Both brothers now seem focused on their current standing as equals, moving past the years of public animosity that defined their careers for over a decade. The report also notes that noel said, “All the little things that used to annoy us about each other have suddenly all gone away, it’s not a power struggle anymore, we’ve come out now as equals”.
