Actress Radhika Apte has rejected the long-standing belief that women are prone to clashing on film sets, dismissing the idea as an outdated, ancient mindset. Addressing common perceptions during an interaction with the media, Apte emphasized that professional relationships are shaped by individual compatibility and mutual respect rather than gender. She noted that she finds men to be “far more insecure” than their female counterparts when it comes to workplace dynamics. The “Lust Stories” actress said, “It’s a very ancient, old-school, dated thought that women clash, responding to the question. I haven’t actually heard that question in a long time because that’s really not true.
When questioned about whether the on-screen conflicts between characters in her new series, “Akka,” translated to real-life tension, the “Lust Stories” star insisted that the narrative of female rivalry is unfounded. She explained that while people may not always form deep friendships with every colleague, the work environment remains inherently professional. “Everybody is cordial and nice unless you have major issues with each other, which generally doesn’t happen,” she stated, clarifying that getting along with peers is a matter of personal chemistry, not a gendered performance. And you don’t get along with others, you know.”, you get along with some people. Regardless of gender, radhika further explained that getting along with colleagues does not necessarily mean becoming close friends with everyone.
Reflecting on the production environment of “Akka,” Apte described the experience as remarkably positive. The project featured a significant number of women in both the cast and the behind-the-scenes crew. According to the actress, this balance fostered a genuine sense of sisterhood that made the overall working atmosphere more comfortable for everyone involved.
The upcoming crime drama, “Akka,” is set in the fictional kingdom of Pernuru and is scheduled for a Netflix premiere on October 30, 2026. The plot centers on two powerful women, Bhavani and Rudra—portrayed by Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte, respectively—navigating a world defined by traditional power struggles and shifting alliances. Apte expressed that the complexity of these characters and their opposing perspectives were the primary factors that attracted her to the project.
The release of the series teaser and the official date announcement recently coincided with Keerthy Suresh’s birthday. Expressing her enthusiasm for the project’s launch, Apte remarked that she believes the timing of the announcement is a positive omen for the team. “It’s wonderful that the date announcement and the teaser drop of ‘Akka’ has coincided with Keerthy’s birthday. I am sure it is going to be lucky for us,” she said.
