Shotzi Blackheart, a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion and recent TNA Wrestling signee, has shared details regarding a request she made to WWE leadership before her departure from the organization. During a recent interview, the wrestler disclosed that she had actively sought permission to participate in TNA during the period when the two wrestling promotions established a formal working relationship. Shotzi is one of the most entertaining wrestlers in the world right now. It will be interesting to see what TNA Wrestling has planned for her.
Blackheart joined WWE in 2019 following a five-year stint on the independent circuit. She quickly established herself as a fan favorite within the NXT brand, participating in prominent storylines alongside competitors like Bianca Belair and Ember Moon, with whom she captured the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles. In 2021, she transitioned to the company’s main roster, though her tenure there was later described as underwhelming. By 2024, she had returned to the NXT brand, where she aligned with performers Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley. Shotzi joined the Stamford-based company back in 2019 after spending nearly 5 years on the independent circuit.
Following her release from the Stamford-based company in May 2025, Blackheart made her debut with TNA on the most recent Thursday Night Impact broadcast. Reflecting on her desire to work for the promotion while still under contract with WWE, she admitted to having a direct conversation with Tommy Dreamer about the possibility. She noted that she was essentially begging to be allowed a run in the Nashville-based organization, but her requests were ultimately rejected.
Addressing the online reaction to her story, Blackheart provided clarification to ensure her comments were not misinterpreted. She explained that her remarks were intended to demonstrate her genuine enthusiasm and professional desire to perform for TNA rather than to cast negative light on her previous employer. As she begins this new chapter of her career, fans and industry analysts remain interested in how TNA Wrestling plans to utilize her talent following her long-awaited arrival.
