The Hobart Hurricanes have secured a major addition to their roster for the 2026-27 Big Bash League season by signing veteran spinner Adam Zampa. The 34-year-old moves to the Hurricanes from the Melbourne Renegades through the league’s free-agent market, committing to the club for the next two seasons. Zampa brings an elite pedigree to the side, currently holding the record as Australia’s leading T20I wicket-taker and the most prolific spinner in the history of the Big Bash.
Throughout his extensive BBL career, Zampa has claimed 138 wickets across 121 appearances, maintaining a disciplined economy rate of 7.28. Hobart will serve as his fifth destination in the competition, following previous stints with the Sydney Thunder, Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars, and the Melbourne Renegades. The spinner expressed enthusiasm about the move, noting that the Hurricanes’ recent success and the presence of familiar teammates, particularly Nathan Ellis, were key factors in his decision to join the squad.
