The body of model and actress Ridhika Ridhi was recovered from a residence in the Bashundhara residential area of Dhaka on Saturday morning. According to law enforcement, the actress was found hanging from a ceiling fan at approximately 6:00 a.m. Following the discovery, she was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital, where attending physicians declared her dead.
Bhatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mazharul Islam confirmed the incident to the media, stating that police arrived at the scene after receiving reports and transported the actress to the hospital. While police have initially characterized the incident as a suspected suicide, an official investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
During the investigation, police met with the victim’s mother and other family members at the station. According to statements provided by the family, Ridhi had been involved in a romantic relationship and was engaged in a heated argument via video call with her partner early Saturday morning. The family alleges that she took her own life while still on the video call. Based on these allegations, the police are in the process of filing a formal case.
Authorities are continuing to gather information from family members and are examining the nature of the relationship and the events leading up to the tragedy. Beyond her work as a model, Ridhi was known for her roles in several television dramas, including “Ekhane Manush Bikri Hoy,” “Bahurupi,” “Double Honeymoon,” and “Sundori.” The investigation remains active as police work to verify all details provided by the family.
